Valentine’s Day tends to focus on flowers and candy. I think there are other fun and truly heartfelt ways to show the people in your life how you really feel about them. Here is a fun one you can use for the kids in your life (your own, grandkids, etc!).
Starting February 1st we (and by we, I mean, “I!”) write a conversation heart and stick it on the girls’ door while they are sleeping. When they wake up in the morning, they see the note! I write a message on a heart, like the conversation heart candies but more meaningful and obviously, personal to them. I love finding other ways, often free or inexpensive, to show children what holidays are about and the true meaning or importance of them. So this is one way we symbolize our love for our children and celebrate the ‘LOVE” holiday as my older child has always referred to it.
This is pretty easy… buy or cut out hearts and write your message. Tape it to their door. VOILA! DONE! 🙂 Easy, peasy!
(Although it’s super easy to just cut out the hearts, I have 3 kids so that’s A LOT of hearts to cut out and I find it’s easier for me to buy them… you can buy them here! Just write your love message and tape to their door! They will be so excited to wake up each morning and see what message is on their door waiting for them!)
You could do this for a birthday (leading up to the special day) or even put the notes in their lunchbox… you know, if we had in person school!
But we’ve done this for a few years and always put the message hearts, one a night, on their doors. It’s a fun way to celebrate and cherish THEM! 🙂
