Make Your Workout Fun Again!

Exercise isn’t just for people that want a six-pack or strong and sexy legs. It’s also for people that want to be healthier on the inside. Whether you need to lower your cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, boost your immune system, or feel more energized, exercise should be at the top of your list. Everybody wants to be part of a good exercise regimen, but as we all know, it’s no easy task. Exercise programs are difficult to stick with. You only see the true benefit of exercise when it is done consistently over a long period. Don’t get me wrong, you may see some results after just a few sessions, but for you goal seekers, it needs to be part of your everyday routine…….like showering or brushing your teeth.
The easiest way to stick with an exercise program, is to find one that you truly enjoy. Getting involved in adult sports leagues or running groups are great ways to do it, but you have to revolve your life around their schedule. My husband, David, and I found an answer with Sandbox Fitness. About 5 years ago, David was recovering from shoulder surgery and I was recovering from knee surgery. We began feeling sluggish and weak from the lack of exercise. We wanted an intense workout, but didn’t want to kill our joints. We remembered that sand training provided both. The instability of the sand forces the body to burn 30% more calories while absorbing the shock at the same time. So we went to the beach, came up with a sand workout, and felt GREAT! So, we brought the sand indoors and invited everyone to join in on the fun.
Sandbox Fitness provides fun and innovative group and individual fitness classes all done in a giant indoor sandbox. Our classes promote strength, stamina, balance, coordination and core strength. The most popular class is Surfset, which is a large wobbly surfboard that mimics surfing. The classes are intense, but can be geared to any fitness level. Most of all, the classes are fun. According to our Sandbox Fitness clients, it doesn’t feel like you are working out, it feels like you are going to go play
Having an exercise that is fun and that you enjoy doing, makes it easier to stick with it. If you don’t have a Sandbox Fitness near you, then get involved in something that is active and that you enjoy doing. Remember back to your childhood when you played outside. Maybe it was soccer, basketball, martial arts, or even swimming. Go back to the activities that you loved and that made you smile, stick with it and reap the benefits.
