If you are newsletter subscriber, you know all about my vegan/gluten free apple cider donut recipe. Well, as promised, here is the vegan/gluten free CHOCOLATE version I hinted at!
My kids and I made these for Hanukkah this year. SO yummy and a great activity to do with the kiddos! These were fast, easy and surprisingly REALLY yummy!!!
I also got a chance to finally use my new donut pans from Williams Sonoma!

Baked Chocolate Donuts (Vegan & Gluten Free)
Ingredients
Donuts
- 1 cup gluten-free flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup rice milk
- ½ tsp apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
- ¼ cup melted coconut oil
Chocolate Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder, sifted
- 2 tbsp almond milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together all of the dry ingredients until the cocoa powder is fully incorporated
- Add all of the wet ingredients and stir until well combined
- Grease your donut pan.
- Using a piping bag (or Ziplock with a corner cut out!), fill donut molds to just below the rim
- Bake for 10-12 minutes
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool
- Whisk together all glaze ingredients
- Once cooled, dip the donuts gently into the glaze then back to the wire rack to dry
- (Optional) repeat for a 2nd coat
- (Optional) add some sprinkles while the glaze is still wet!
- Enjoy!
